Women on Wednesdays

Last year, more than 120 women from around the state came to the State Capitol for Justice for Louisiana Women Day to advocate for the issues matter to the women of Louisiana. What we heard from those who attended was that people wanted more time talking one-on-one with their lawmakers. The Louisiana Legislative Session begins on April 8th, and this year Lift Louisiana would like to invite you to join Women on Wednesdays, a bi-weekly advocacy campaign. Each week, Lift Louisiana and our partners, will host groups of advocates at the State Capitol, to learn about key issues affecting women across our state and the impacts of proposed legislation. Advocates will receive training on how to influence the legislative process and will have the chance to speak directly to their lawmakers. The purpose of these events are to bring Louisiana residents together at the State Capitol to raise awareness among legislators and the public about the policies we need to improve the health and wellbeing of Louisiana’s women. Events like these can provide just what advocates need to keep fighting and can show our state lawmakers how important these issues are to the public. Women on Wednesdays will be held at the Louisiana State Capitol from 10 am – 5 pm on the following dates: April 10, April 24th, May 8th, May 22nd, and June 5th, 2019
